Funding Opportunities for our Postgraduate Degrees

Funding a course of postgraduate study can be challenging, but here are some possibilities that you might want to explore.   

It is usually not possible to secure funding once you have begun your studies, so it is important to secure funding before starting your course.

Alumnus Discount Scheme, Oxford Brookes

Oxford Brookes is pleased to announce that it has decided to recognise the personal loyalty shown by recent graduates/alumni registering for additional postgraduate degree/s. A discount of 10% of the student’s yearly tuition fee will be allowed on registration.

Eligible students include any student who has graduated from Oxford Brookes University and wishes to stay on/return for an additional degree (eg an undergraduate student who then studies for a taught master’s programme, or a taught master’s graduate who enrols on another taught master’s or a MPhil/PhD programme).

John Henry Brookes Scholarships 2012-13

for Business, Hospitality and Publishing

A number of £1,000 to £3,000 awards are open to UK, EU and International students studying a full-time Masters in any of the following Departments:

  • Business School
  • Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies
  • The Oxford School of Hospitality Management

There is a total of £8,000 to award across these programmes.

Macmillan Publishing Scholarship

The Macmillan Scholarship is agreed annually and details for the coming academic year are announced in May. Applicants who have accepted a place on the programme should visit this page at that time for details of the application process. 

In past years, the Macmillan Scholarship offers a fee-waiver bursary of £750 to a full-time or part-time student at the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies on the MA in Publishing, International Publishing, Publishing and Language, Digital Publishing or the European Master in Publishing.

Osprey Group Publishing Scholarship

The Osprey Group is offering a fee-waiver bursary of £1,000 to a full-time or part-time student at the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies on the MA in Publishing, International Publishing, Publishing and Language, or Digital Publishing. The student will also receive the guarantee of a work placement for a minimum of three weeks at Osprey Group; and it is expected that they undertake a dissertation or major project in an area of interest to Osprey.

The Publishing Scholarship, open to students from the UK and EU, will be awarded on the basis of a proven interest in the areas of either genre fiction or communities of interest in the non-fiction area, and a considered explanation of what the master’s course will contribute to the student’s learning and career development.

Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies International Scholarship

The Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies is offering a fee-waiver bursary of £1,500 to a full-time or part-time International student on the MA in Publishing, International Publishing, Publishing and Language, Digital Publishing or the European Master in Publishing for the academic year commencing September 2012.

One year fully funded studentships (full-time) in the following programmes:

Random House Group Scholarship 2012

The Random House Group and the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies are running a publishing scholarship aimed at individuals from groups underrepresented within the publishing industry.

Random House will be offering a £2,000 bursary for September 2012 to a full or part-time MA student of Publishing, International Publishing, Publishing and Language, or Digital Publishing at the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies. The student will also receive a paid work placement for four weeks within The Random House Group.

Santander Scholarships 2012-13

The International bank Santander is awarding postgraduate scholarships to new Master's students at Oxford Brookes on an annual basis.

This year a number of awards will be made to full-time students starting their programmes in September 2012. A total of £30,000 is being awarded in scholarships. Successful applicants will also receive a further 10% discount on their tuition fees from Oxford Brookes. 

Funding is offered to students who are graduating from or who have graduated from named universities in the UK, China, Latin-America, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, and the USA. The scholarship fund aims to reward the most academically gifted students from these institutions.

The Stationers’ Foundation: University Bursary Scheme 2012

The Stationers’ Foundation is the charitable arm of the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers. It supports a wide range of educational initiatives from primary through to postgraduate education. A new postgraduate bursary scheme was launched in 2010 aimed at students who plan to study on postgraduate publishing courses which reflect the industry sectors which the Stationers’ Company specifically aims to support. Publishing Master’s courses at six universities have been selected for this scheme, including Oxford Brookes.
