This role is responsible for running the editorial offices for a portfolio of titles within Life Sciences and for supporting other editorial offices as required. The successful candidate will act as first point of contact and liaise with Editors, Reviewers, Authors, Production Editors and Journal Publishing Managers to ensure the smooth running of the journals from the submission of content to final publication.
Key tasks include:
- Monitoring submissions and accepted manuscripts and alerting as appropriate to significant problems
- Maintaining and updating ScholarOne Manuscripts
- Monitoring manuscript progress and supporting the Editors
- Acknowledging, checking and preparing new and revised submissions for peer review
- Ensuring adherence to established best practices
- Attending journal meetings and compiling and presenting brief reports on editorial initiatives and statistics
- Assisting in the identification and implementation of journal development opportunities

Production Editor

Role profile
- Oversee production of a challenging list of academic and education titles, from receipt of author’s manuscript to supply of final files and stock
- Commission and supply work to freelance editorial suppliers, monitoring their work and providing feedback
- Liaise with the overseas typesetting suppliers
- Keep both the client and author updated on the production of their title, and respond to queries in a timely manner
- Collate corrections from authors, proofreaders and publishers, check revised proofs and digital products and maintain delivery of consistently high quality content
- Manage tight schedules and budgets
- Work with colleagues to refine company-wide procedures and processes, maximising efficiency and minimising risk

The Taylor & Francis Politics Journals Marketing Team is now looking for a Senior Marketing Executive.
This is an exciting role with responsibilities including:
• Working closely with other members of the team to plan and implement promotions for the full range of Politics, International Relations, Military, Defence and Strategic Studies titles;
• Devising marketing strategy plans in line with objectives and implement effective and measurable direct marketing and electronic marketing campaigns;
• Being the main marketing contact for a list of approximately 40 journals;

Project Editor, 9 Month FTC

This role is working within the Health and Life Sciences Books Content Management Team and will develop books from handover from Editorial and deliver completed manuscripts on schedule and to agreed specifications to the Production team. The Project Editor will maintain regular contract with authors, editors and colleagues in order to keep stakeholders informed.
Selection criteria
- Experience of working with external authors and contacts
- A knowledge of book production and editorial processes
- A good knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of file types e.g. XML, PDF, image files
- The ability to work independently without close supervision
- Evidence of problem solving skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to work effectively and achieve results in a changing environment
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- A publishing qualification would be desirable, as would previous development or production experience and a knowledge of STMS publishing.

About the Role
The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is widely regarded as the accepted authority on the English language. It is an unsurpassed guide to the meaning and history of 600,000 words— past and present—from across the English-speaking world.
We are looking for four people (including one scientist) to join the team of lexicographers working on the Oxford English Dictionary (www.oed.com). The OED documents the English Language from the Middle Ages to the present day. Editors are required to research the origin, meaning, and usage of a word and to create dictionary entries which convey the essential details to a general readership. Your job would be either to research and write entirely new entries or to revise and update the existing OED text.
The science candidate will have a strong interest in the language of science and will work with a team of specialists from various disciplines to update scientific and technical entries in the OED.

Black Dog Publishing and Artifice Books on Architecture specialise in highly illustrated books on art, design, popular culture and architecture. We are seeking a Sales and Marketing Executive to work alongside the Sales and Marketing Team to build sales and expand the list for this growing area of the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective sales and marketing plans to develop the list, identifying new business opportunities as well as supplying relevant marketing and sales analysis. You will be expected to develop and maintain an excellent and thorough working knowledge of the market as well as the customer base. You will be working alongside the Sales & Marketing Team, sales representatives and distribution partners and will provide regular feedback and reports to the director.
Tasks will also include creating sales materials together with the Sales and Marketing Team, managing title data, researching promotional opportunities for our titles and sales reporting. Good communication and excellent multi-tasking skills are essential as well as working knowledge of Mac computers and Microsoft Office Systems. The ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of illustrated publishing and preferably 4 years experience in this field.
The salary range for this role is £18,000 - £24,000 per annum.
