About the Role

The Online Marketing Group is looking for a Global Marketing Manager to develop marketing strategies for online products resources and tools; from campaign conception, to setting digital marketing strategy, to liaising with all departments to test, plan, and orchestrate the implementation of the strategies, globally, to deadline.

This is an important position and the post holder will be expected to:

• become the key marketing contact and global product expert for a range of online products during the entire lifecycle (conception to launch, from product development roadmap to maturation)

• be confident and experienced using digital marketing channels (SRM, PPC, SEO) 

• manage the work of 5 full time Marketing staff to ensure that they fully support the objectives and goals of the Online Marketing department

• manage the marketing budget for allocated products to ensure that all campaigns and activity associated with the marketing strategies for the required products are delivered within budget, and also to create future budgets for on-going activity

Journal Publishing Assistant

The Journal Publishing Assistant is an exciting role within our Social Sciences team. The role holder will provide administrative support and editorial assistance to a Journal Publishing Manager (JPM) and a Commissioning Editor to help with editorial management and development of their titles and support commissioning of new journals. 

Selection criteria

  • Experience of working independently without close supervision

  • The ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both verbally and in writing

  • A high standard of computer literacy including Microsoft Office

  • Experience of working in an office or administrative environment

  • The ability to manage own workload, with good organisational skills

  • A high standard of verbal and written English

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Education to degree level or equivalent, a Social Sciences and Humanities qualification is desirable

  • Database, previous publishing experience and a familiarity with journal publishing would be an advantage.

Publicity Assistant - Publishing

This role represents an excellent introduction to publicity as you will be an integral part of our busy global press team. Reporting to the Senior Publicist you will mainly be working on our trade non-fiction list which covers business, politics, current affairs, popular science and history. You will be responsible for writing and distributing press releases; handling review copy mailings; answering press and author enquiries; and updating our media database and parts of our website.

The successful candidate will:

·         Be educated to degree level

·         Have excellent communication and writing skills

·         Enjoy working as part of a team and contributing creatively

·         Be calm under pressure and able to prioritise and handle a diverse workload

·         Have a sound knowledge of social media and be able to demonstrate solid IT skills including MS Office including Word and Excel

·         Be passionate about books and have a good understanding of the media

·         Work experience in publicity, publishing or journalism would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.

This position will be based at our London offices in King’s Cross with occasional travel to Basingstoke.

The Content Architecture group (CA) are responsible for turning source material into XML content for use in digital and print publishing, and for licensing to third parties. CA works closely with internal editors, production staff, freelancers, offshore suppliers, and licensing partners.

Sales and Marketing Assistant - Maidenhead

Responsibilities will include -

  • managing one full-time and one part-time assistant in the supply of Oxford’s concert music worldwide
  • liaising with a network of hire agents in other countries for the supply of music
  • overseeing the production of new hire materials, including new works by Oxford composers and new editions of existing works
  • assisting in the promotion of the concert list

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • management of the Southern & Eastern Europe Library Sales team, consisting of four sales consultants
  • preparing and implementing team & personal sales strategies to maximise sales of Online Products and Journals to institutional customers
  • coordinating research into new prospects and new sales opportunities in order to identify areas for growth
  • managing and developing relationships with current partners (consortia and agents), as well as key institutional librarians and leading academics
  • conducting regular customer visits as well as representing OUP at relevant industry events and giving sales presentations
  • building and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of OUP’s electronic product offering as it develops
  • acquiring and maintaining a demonstrably thorough knowledge of the electronic information publishing industry to help maintain OUP’s competitive advantage and respond well to customer requirements

The role will require regular travel within territory and therefore could be based in the UK or in territory area.

  • carrying out consistency checks
  • keying text or making changes to the databases
  • performing clerical tasks such as photocopying

You will also deal with queries received through our ELT Dictionaries Helpdesk and this will include -

  • managing incoming queries about our digital products via a web base tracking system
  • sending customers solutions with explanations
  • writing documentation for new issues
