Digital Updates Controller

Macmillan Publishers Ltd is looking to recruit a Digital Updates Controller for its Macmillan Education division in Oxford.

The main responsibility of this role is to control the workflow of digital product updates for a range of formats including disc, websites and apps. This is a new position, and the successful applicant will contribute to the creation of processes that enable a programme of update projects to be arranged with the publishing teams and delivered in a timely and efficient manner. The role holder will also need to manage schedules and ensure robust archiving.

To be successful in this role you must be well-organized, flexible, adaptable, personable and able to multi-task. Accuracy and attention to detail are important attributes. Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent, you must be a team player, preferably with a background in digital publishing or at least provable training in a related area. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate keen interest and experience of working with new media, as well as an ability to learn complex systems and get to grips with technical information and procedures quickly. The ideal person will enjoy solving problems, planning and running projects meticulously and ensuring digital content, software and complete products are delivered on time and to budget. 

Essential requirements:

  • Highly organised and computer literate
  • Proven interest in digital publishing
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work independently
  • Confidence in editing multi-media files
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • An aptitude to learn new systems and software tools quickly
  • Ability to deal with different types of new media contacts effectively.
     

 Desirable requirements: 

  • Proficiency in working with CS3/4 tools
  • Experience of XML coding
  • Experience of Microsoft Project 

This position will initially be based in Oxford and will be transferred to a Macmillan London office location, by the end of 2014.
