About the Role

Good link architecture in websites not only improves the user experience, it is essential to making content discoverable.
 
We are recruiting for a Link Architect in GAB-IT to design and help implement a strategy for the creation of links to related content across the breadth of OUP online products, and beyond. You will specify and develop the standards, tools, and processes for the systematic creation of product appropriate links so that GAB’s content enhances the user experience and improves usage.
 
You will work with editors, online development managers and marketing specialists to research and trial tools, methods and approaches to enhancing linking content and assess suitability for implementation in GAB. You will also work with data engineers and systems analysts to define XML data standards in content creation, enhancement, and storage to better enable the systematic.

About You

You will be able to plan, manage, and implement projects as part of the link architecture strategy, including identifying benefits and preparing business cases. You will need to develop and maintain close links with stakeholders at all levels, analyse and challenge business requirements, propose options, seek approval, work with suppliers and internal teams, and plan and control projects.
 
The ideal candidate will demonstrate -

  • knowledge of XML and related technologies (XPath, XSLT, XQuery etc.) and experience of modelling and processing digital data (ideally gained in the publishing industry)
  • experience of Perl programming and an understanding of the software lifecycle
  • assessment and implementation of authorities, taxonomies, ontologies, or other classification systems
  • online product development, and related standards (such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • parsing or matching content in large quantities of data (for example through exploiting databases or language engineering)
  • knowledge of trends and technologies in text mining, and an understanding of search engine optimisation
  • knowledge of RDF, SPARQL and preferably some experience of publishing Linked Data and linking to other datasets

The salary offered will be in the region of £31,000 depending on skills and experience. OUP offers a full range of supporting benefits.
