After the enormous success of our inaugural conference last June, we are delighted to announce another stellar line-up of speakers, panels, and breakout sessions for the 2016 OPG Summer Conference.  With talks by leading figures from the publishing world focusing on some of the most exciting and innovative work that is being done, the conference will once again challenge conventional ways of working and stimulate delegates to embrace the changing face of publishing.

In addition to the talks, there will be breakout sessions for delegates to choose from led by senior publishing professionals, a panel discussion on one of the key issues in our industry, and the opportunity to meet a wide range of publishing colleagues from companies across the UK and from a variety of backgrounds.

The conference fee includes refreshments, a sit-down lunch, and a drinks reception at the end of the day.

We are delighted to announce the first annual conference of the Oxfordshire Publishing Group.  This inaugural event includes talks by Philip Pullman Charlie Redmayne, James Daunt and Eric Huang, leading figures in the publishing world who are at the forefront of some of the most exciting and innovative work that is being done, challenging conventional ways of working and changing the face of publishing as we know it.
 
In addition to the talks, there will be four breakout sessions for delegates to choose from, and a panel discussion on the theme of the conference with a team of distinguished publishers.

Press Forward: Updating an Outdated Industry

The SYP Conference for 2011

Seminars on design, digital, rights, publicity, social media and career progression will face forward with a keen eye on each of their future developments. Our opening debate will enlist publishing experts who will use a combination of experience and crystal balls to prophesise the industry’s future. Our closing debate will then face up to the controversial challenges of Digital Rights Management and ask publishers to decide which side they support in the digital war against piracy.

Publishing is not just an industry. It's very largely how a democracy works (when it works!), so it's far too important to be left entirely to markets, press-barons and governments. Humanity's greatest battles - against slavery, for the vote, against poverty, oppression, exploitation and war - are fought increasingly, and often won or lost, in the publishing media.
