Winners of the School Magazine Competition
Thank you to everyone who entered the school magazine competition. The judges were immensely impressed with the quality of all the entries. They picked, Langley Park School for Boys, Beckenham, as the winner of the 16-18 years category with their magazine, SFM. The articles were just right for the intended audience; the judges just couldn’t put it down either! It was outstanding in both content and design. A very professional magazine put together by a superbly talented team.
In the 11-15 years category Acland Burghley School, London, was the clear winner with their magazine, Source. The articles were both fun and informative, the design and layout professional and the judges absolutely loved the original artwork.
The runners up were Twynham School, Christchurch with JuiceBox; The Abbey School, Reading with Jampacked (both in 16-18 year category); King Alfred’s school in Wantage with Absolute K/A’s (11-15 years).
The magazines were put together by big teams of students, and in two of the cases were a first attempt at a school magazine for their community. The judges hope that the success in this competition will be a spur to keep up the good work and produce more fantastic editions in the coming years.
In addition to thanking the entrants and and congratulating the prize winners, The International Centre for Publishing Studies must also thank the generous sponsors of this competition:
IPC Media for two subscriptions to their magazines; Boardworks, for a Shakespeare interactive whiteboard product; Oxford University Press who provided a prize of books from their children’s catalogue and copies of Rowan the Strange; The Scrumbler who gave a subscription to the poetry writing magazine for children of the same name; New Internationalist for a subscription to their magazine; and Butler Tanner and Dennis for providing a subscription to The Week.
